Research Interests
Dr Figueroa's current research interest centre on non-equilibrium processing and the development of novel and conventional metallic materials.
The areas covered include:
- The mechanisms of formation of metastable microstructures, with particular emphasis on amorphous and nanostructured alloys.
- Structure, thermodynamic and kinetic factors influencing the formation, mechanical properties and thermal stability of Bulk metallic glasses.
- Alloy development.
- Processing, mechanical and thermal properties of open-celled porous Al and Mg alloys.
